Sigiriya (Lion's rock) is an ancient rock fortress with a castle, most popular for the ancient paintings (frescos). The fortress, which is very similar to the paintings of India's Ajanta Caves is situated in Matale District of Sri Lanka. It was built during the reign of King Kasyapa (477 – 495 AD). It is one of the seven World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka. |
